PRODUCTION on set Lazy Susan was an idea spawned one cold night in February 2009 at a Chinese restaurant in Vancouver, Canada. The filmmakers decided to grab a bite to eat, while waiting for their ill cat who was admitted to the animal hospital next door to the restaurant. Waiting for their food to be served, they couldn't help but notice an irritating child at a table next to them. The child was trying incessantly to get the attention of his parents, who were all too consumed, by the food on the table. Ignoring the kid, the family members enjoyed their meal and continued to eat. Though this did not end up being the subject matter of the film itself, this incident planted the seed for the development of Lazy Susan.

Initially pitched to the National Film Board of Canada for production, the film was turned down, and the filmmakers were wished well in their future endeavours. With little money, and a whole lot of drive, determined to get the film into production, Albert took the challenge upon himself, with self-financing, and the help of a talented cast, and crew, many of whom were paid very little, or on a voluntary basis. Together the film was willed into existence. |

Shot on one hectic Saturday in late April of 2009, Lazy Susan was filmed entirely on green screen at Qube film studio in downtown Vancouver, with the Panasonic HVX200. Because of the limited time available at the set, lots of pre-production planning was required. Storyboards, and scripts were created by Albert, as well as concept art by Kim Smith, was used as inspiration for the cast and crew to imagine the world of Susan.
